Abstract

Homogenization has become a common problem in many ancient towns in China during the process of tourism development. One of the reasons for this is the lack of research into the diversity that makes an area or town special. Taking the ancient town of Songkou as an example, this article deconstructs Songkou's tourism image, using the content analysis method to analyze the photos uploaded by tourists on social networking platforms. From the perspective of place, the paper provides a way of deconstructing and reconstructing the ancient town's tourism image, and puts forward a cycle of review "construction - deconstruction - reconstruction" to recheck the image of ancient towns, and emphasizes that different elements and media should be adopted in the creation of ancient towns' tourism image.
