Abstract
A Smart Lean Practice in SME depicts the most practical and simplest approach to study Lean implementation in SMEs. The book is born out of the deep study of Lean practices by questionnaire survey and statistical analysis. With a strong emphasis on the basic concepts of Lean tools, Lean questions and Lean rules, the book gives clarity for the following questions: What is Lean? Why is Lean? How is Lean? In Lean manufacturing, products are made using a better, simpler, faster and safer method eliminating non value added activities. Successful lean tools are modified to get adapted to the latter industry. Second part of the book is a presentation of successful lean practice in SMEs. The lean practice presented in these treaties is a result of the research study on performance of a typical SME unit before and after the implementation of appropriate lean tools. Study of lean awareness among the workers of the firm. Implementation of lean tools in level 1 and level 2. Measurement of the basic key performance indicators like DL Productivity, DL Efficiency, TEEP, OEE and QAP PPM. Analysis of the measured values and relevant remedial measures like Kaizen, SMED, Hoshin and QRQC.
