Abstract

Cotton is grown as a cash crop in many countries of the world. But the limited land resources in agriculture and high cropping intensity limits cotton production due to its low benefit from mono cropping. To increase the productivity and monetary benefit of farmers from cotton cultivation inter-cropping is a key option in most of the cotton growing countries. Mungbean is an important legume crop to be grown as inter crop with cotton to meet the situation. This book assessed growth and light utilization ability, yield advantages and monetary benefits, competitive ability of cotton and mungbean in inter-cropping system under different planting pattern and sowing dates. This work also assessed NPK uptake and use efficiency of both crop in inter-cropping system under different NPK doses. The productivity and advantages of cotton+mungbean inter-cropping by identifying proper planting pattern, sowing dates and NPK doses of the component crops are explained in this book. This book should help the researcher and professionals in agriculture field, or anyone working on cotton production and development in the world.
