Abstract
The fact that overhead lines are exposed to external effects aggravate to provide healthy operating conditions, especially during winter months. Ice load consists of one of the most important problems overhead line network during the winter months. Aside from problems such as conductor breaking due to ice load, to solve these problems can take a long time due to climatic and geographical conditions. During this time, the consumers remain without electricity. In this study, algorithms and analysis studies were accomplished to predict and prevent icing on MV overhead lines. The output of the algorithm was tested under the real operational conditions in the field and it was observed that studies to predict and prevent icing yielded successful results.
