Retracted: Research self-efficacy of students in Jahrom University of medical sciences: a cross-sectional descriptive study in 2017

Introduction: University students are dynamic forces to do research and discover the truth. The research beliefs of university students affect their decision about conducting or not conducting a research. The present study aimed to evaluate the research self-efficacy of students in Jahrom University of Medical Sciences. Methodology: The present research was cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample consisted of 75 senior students of Nursing, Anesthetics, Operating Room, Medicine, Laboratory Sciences, and Public Health in Jahrom University of Medical Sciences who had obtained a research diploma or approved at least one research project as the executor. Research self-efficacy was measured using the questionnaire developed by Salehi et al . The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and percentage), Mann-Whitney U test, and Pearson correlation coefficient in SPSS-21. Findings: The mean score of research self-efficacy among the participants was equal to 160±36.6. There was a significant difference between majors in terms of self-efficacy score in report writing and self-efficacy score in skills and experiences ( p 0.05). Moreover, no significant relationship was found between gender and self-efficacy score in different areas ( p >0.05). Conclusion: The level of self-efficacy in research skills and experiences was above the average in 93% of participants, and the level of self-efficacy in ethics and methodology ranked second and third, respectively.
