Abstract
This is a study to know the needs and potential of information provision in public transportation improvements. Problems on existing public transportation services are analyzed from the present and latent user's points of view, as well as their preference on improvement of information provision. This is done through interview surveys to the users. From the results of the analyses, problems were classified into two groups: 1. those occurring on each mode itself, and 2. those at modal interchanges like terminals. Since each trip by public transportation is achieved by several different modes, like walking and bus, the structure of the problem is relatively complicated. Based on the detailed needs by potential users, the applicability of several measures tackling the problems with the present level of information provision techniques were discussed.
