Abstract
This chapter presents the strategic management process and the phases required to develop and implement strategy within voluntary sport organisations. The chapter sets out the rationale for strategic management and discusses the need to prepare for the strategy development process. It then describes the four phases needed to develop and implement a strategic plan. These processes are illustrated by the case of a major sport organisation: the International Olympic Committee.
