Abstract

The legiac literature written by Fan Dangshi in the late Qing Dynasty won others with sincerity, breaking the Confucius’ proposition of gentleness and kindness. Particularly remarkable was his fidelity to love during the long period of Chinese feudal society. Fan’s legiac poems could be a breakthrough in the related fields by adding more elements, as a result, his works were widely circulated at that time. Because of lots of real-life details appeared in the works, the heroi emerged as a distinctive and vivid character unparalleled. At the same time, Fan Dangshi broadened the ways and connotations in writing, such as creating a variety of forms: poems/essays and paintings, including more emotions expressed by other people into it. All of this indicated the new meaning in the course of the development of legiac literature.
