Seminar on potential marine fishery resources, April 23, 1986

The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute \nCochin, is the premier organisation in the country \nconducting research in marine fisheries leading to rational \nexploitation, management, development and conservation \nof living marine resources. The Institute, ever \nsince its early days of inception, hes been collecting \ndata on the catch and effort along with the biological \ninformation on the exploited marine fisheries resources \nof the country, through a standardised, stratified, \nmultistage random-sampling method. In addition to \nmaking use for biological studies, including assessment \nof stocks, conducted by the InstitUte these data have \nbeen processed and utilised to furnish estimates of \nannual marine fish production in different States over \nthe past 38 years.
