Abstract

The paper examines the regulatory discipline for banking resolution in the European Banking Union by reconstructing the rationale for harmonized rules and the different regulatory choices adopted at the EU level. Focus is centered on legislative framework for the management of banks in financial difficulties with special attention to the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive and the Single Resolution Mechanism.
