Abstract

Muller & Lefevre (Muller 1859: 108) identified a bramble from the Foret de Retz in the North of France with Rubus schlechtendalii Weihe ex Link (1822: 62). This identification appeared to be incorrect. The R. schlechtendalii from Northern France, also found in the South of the Netherlands, turned out to be an unpublished species. It is published here under the name Rubus latior A. Beek. Differences to R. schlechtendalii are indicated, and a full description is provided.
