Abstract Materials were applied to 13- by 13-ft plots in vegetative blueberry fields at Dresden (Test 1) and Columbia Falls (Test 2), Maine. Blueberry plant developmental stage varied for each treatment; timing is given in the table. Each treatment had four replications in a randomized block design with a minimum 5-ft untreated buffer strip between each set of 4 plots. Insecticides were applied at a rate of 25 gpa using a CO2-propelled 80-inch boom sprayer, with 4, flat-spray 80002VS TeeJet® nozzles operating at 35 psi. On 23 Jun (Test 1) and 25 Jun (Test 2), the percentage of lowbush blueberry’s stems with and without thrips’ curls was determined from each of 4, sq ft samples per plot; 16 per treatment. Blueberry stems were 2-3 inches tall on both dates.
