Abstract
Energy efficient routing and increasing throughput is a challenging task in fully connected wireless ad hoc networks. In this research adaptive energy strategy using snooze/snoop duty cycle technique is employed in order to reduce the energy consumption of nodes that are present in the network. The MAC modification is carried out with the help of the channel state metric. AOMDV routing strategy is strategically used for constructing routes from the source to destination. The proposed protocol is named as Adaptive Energy Efficient and Rate Adaptation based Medium Access Control Routing Protocol (AEERA - MACRP). The performance of the proposed AEERA-MACRP is analyzed by increasing network load. Simulations are carried out using NS2 simulator. The results portray better performance in terms of throughput and energy consumption.
