Abstract
The aim of this thesis is the description of energetic transformations and processes of geothermal energy. Structure of planet Earth, on which geothermal energy is dependent on, is presented, as well as the area of the highest geothermal activity. The central point of this work is the transformation of geothermal energy to electrical energy by means of geothermal power plants. Geothermal power plants work with a few basic types of processes such as the dry steam process, the binary process and the flash process. Some of the active geothermal power plants are shown and described, as well as plans for Croatian geothermal power plant on Kutnjak-Lunjkovec reservoir. Beside the transformation of geothermal energy into electrical energy, its direct usage is also shown and described.
