Abstract
This paper deals with centrifugal pumps cavitation, discussing the concept of net positive suction head available (NPSHA), net positive suction head required (NPSHR) and safety margins between NPSHA and NPSHR. In connection to the net positive suction head (NPSH) several phenomena and other characteristic cavitation parameters are also discussed, including pump and pump suction piping characteristics. Furthermore, guidance for prevention of cavitation in centrifugal pumps is also given.
