Abstract

Field experiment was conducted in two cropping seasons viz Kharif 2014 and Rabi 2014–15 at Agricultural Research Station, Ragolu using rice cultivar MTU 7029 during Kharif and MTU 1010 during Rabi. The insecticide molecules tested were acephate 95 SG, flubendamide 20 per cent + B buprofezin 20 per cent, buprofezin 25 per cent (Applaud), dinotefuran 36 per cent (Token), imidacloprid + ethiprole (Glamar), acephate 75 SP and monocrotophos (Sulphos) along with untreated control. The pooled data indicated that during vegetative stage dinotefuran 36 per cent @ 200 g/ha followed by flubendamide 20 per cent + buprofezin 20 per cent @ 875 ml/ha, acephate 75 SP @ 667 g ai/ha and acephate 95 SG @ 526 g were significantly superior in reducing stem borer incidence with 5.83, 6.66, 6.75 and 6.95 per cent dead hearts respectively. At maximum tillering stage a significant reduction in natural enemy population was observed in monocrotophos 36 WSC @ 1390 ml/ha and in acephate 95 SG @ 526 g (8.17/20 hills).
