Abstract

In network communication, more or less always security is an important issue. IP spoofing is one of the significant attacks in networking, when the attack is done by DDoS attackers it is hard to find the IP address of the attackers, after some research work on IP spoofing “IP trace-back” is thetechnique invented which can trace back the IP of the attackers to their source. There are many IP trace-back techniques like packet marking, hop-by-hop tracing, reactive tracing and logging. In this paper, we focus on DPM (deterministic packet marking) and PPM (probabilistic packet marking) in networking, and also the basic idea of other techniques for trace-back of attackers IP like logging and hop-by hop.
