Pharmacy Preceptor's Roles in the Pharmaceutical Care Clerkship

Abstract

A pharmacy preceptor plays a vital role in the learning process for the pharmacy students at the practice sites. The pharmacy preceptor is a role model for the pharmacy student and guides the student into the real world of pharmacy practice. Three main roles of the pharmacy preceptor are as follows; 1) the management of teaching 2) the provision of pharmaceutical care 3) the educational development and professional responsibility. The Pharmacy Council of Thailand provided the standards of professional practice site and the requirements to become a preceptor. However, there are still need the preceptor training programs and the supporting structures and resources that assist and guide the pharmacy preceptor in this challenging role.
