Abstract

Ventilation in buildings includes constant exchange of polluted indoor air with fresh outdoor air. This will maintain the necessary hygienic conditions for a healthy and comfortable stay of occupants. The ventilation system can be either mechanically, or natural. In further text, natural ventilation will be described in detail. Natural ventilation occurs as a result of pressure difference between indoor and outdoor air and is realized through different openings with the outer space. Short-term ventilation provides complete air change without major heat loss. This type of ventilation is energy and environmentally efficient. Advantages are also lower investment cost and simple maintenance. Because of the variable intensity of climatic conditions, natural ventilation may occasionally be insufficiently effective. Therefore, it is important to take necessary measures to ensure permanently efficiency of natural ventilation.
