Abstract

Acne is the most common skin condition that affects both women and men in various stages of life. A few decades ago acne was considered a “normal manifestation of teenage”. Nowadays, acne is regarded by the health professionals as a chronic condition, and patients are informed about the progress of the disease from the slow onset to the acute manifestations, with high risk of relapse. Acne affects both the health and the quality of the patient’s social life by psychological influences to which is exposed. Acne manifests in two forms: the most common is the acne vulgaris, known generically as acne, and acne rosacea, called rosacea. In this paper we aimed a comprehensive analysis of the most recent data on the etiopathology of rosacea and the prescribed topical treatment of rosacea.
