Lesotho - Basic Education Improvement Project

The development objective of Basic Education Improvement Project for Lesotho is to improve basic education service delivery and student retention in targeted schools. This restructuring requires financing of 2.1 million US dollars to address challenges with basic education service delivery and student retention in targeted primary and junior secondary schools. The project targets the 300 poorest-performing primary schools across all districts in Lesotho and 65 junior secondary schools in their catchment areas. The project will be implemented from 2016 to 2021. This project will support the government in its efforts to improve the equity of basic education and enhance the skills of Basotho students, with the aim of contributing to positive social and economic outcomes particularly for the poorest citizens.
