European citizenship is a relatively new concept. As such is very important in shaping of a new enlarged Europe. In the process of enlargement it should not been forgotten that we all are European and we need to have and share same rights and duties. European citizenship constitutes a part of the endeavour to create a “ People’ s Europe” . At present, the purpose of citizenship of the Union is to bring the EU closer to the citizens in the member states. However, it must be beard in mind that the present shape of the Union will be broadening very soon and other people, who are not currently considered as EU citizens, will become citizens of the Union. Consequently, they are supposed to enjoy the same rights and duties as other Union citizens.
