Chapter 22 – Comparison of Two Groups: t-Tests and Nonparametric Tests

Julien I.E. Hoffman

Open publisher page 2 citations

Abstract

Comparing the means of two groups is the most frequently used hypothesis test, and is known as the “Student” t-test. There are different versions for paired and unpaired data. If the requirements for the test are not met, alternative nonparametric tests such as the Wilcoxon-signed rank test (paired) or the Mann–Whitney U test (unpaired) can be used.
