Abstract
This study is experimental research which examined the properties consequent on the characteristic of a building form and combustibles in relation to smoke properties, which are important element in the evacuation safety design, as a basic research for reasonably evaluation the evacuation safety design. This study looked into a fire growth rate consequent on the sorts of combustibles by manufacturing a 1/5 scale model specimen to predict smoke properties in the compartment. In addition, this study analyzed fire properties consequent on a fire growth rate, and considered the relations between a fire growth rate and smoke descent time using the existing smoke descent time prediction equation. As a result, this study confirmed that the smoke descent, and smoke diffusion velocity were greatly influenced according to a fire growth rate. Keywords: Fire Growth Rate, Smoke Behavior, Evacuation Safety Assessment, Scale Model
