Abstract
The results of RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry showed that the expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor ( flk-1 ) in the renal cortex of insulin-resistant rats during the phase of normal blood glucose were significantly increased, which were decreased by telmisartan. The result suggests that telmisartan may ease kidney damage via decreasing VEGF and flk-1 expressions. Key words: Insulin resistance; Vascular endothelial growth factor; Telmisartan
