Abstract

Maharashtra is one of the major coastal states \nin India contributing to 11.55% (4630 crores) worth \nof marine fish landings at the landing centre. The \nmarine landings in Maharashtra during 2015 was \nestimated at 2.65 lakh tonnes registering a decrease \nof 23% compared to 2014. Greater Mumbai district \nranked first with 50.4% followed by Raigad (17%), \nRatnagiri (12.4%), Thane (10.6%) and Sindhudurg \n(9.6%). Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra accounts \nfor 25,440 tonnes of fish production from marine \nsector.
