Operation and maintenance of tunnels on the Zagreb- Macelj motorway

The paper focuses on the features of operation and maintenance of tunnels on the Zagreb-Macelj motorway. Tunnels on the Zagreb-Macelj motorway are in use as of May 2007 - which is almost five years. In the course of tunnel maintenance in the first five years of tunnels exploitation, the emphasis is put on the maintenance of the tunnel equipment systems. In the terms of buisness continuity aspect tunnels are the most demanding facilities for maintaining appropriate saftey and operational level in order to rich continuous availability providing safe and quality of service to the motorway users. Maintenance of tunnel systems includes all the works necessary to determine the condition of the systems in technical working order. Tunnel equipment systems maintenance implies optimisation of parameters of each individual tunnel equipment system as well as optimisation of parameters of the compreensive system as a whole. The goal of the tunnel operation and maintenance is to ensure undisturbed and safe traffic flow through the tunnels by keeping the tunnel at the normal functional conditions.
