Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical manifestations and diagnosis methods of cerebral amyloid angiopathy ( CAA ).Methods The clinical data of 55 patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage were analyzed. The pathological specimen were stained by Congo red and accepted immunohistochemistry staining for beta- amyloid protein. Then the pathological diagnoses were established. Results 6 patients were first diagnosed as CAA depend on the clinical manifestation, but one patient was later excluded by pathological staining. Two patients were first diagnosed as hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, and then were identified as CAA by pathological staining. Conclusions CAA could be the first diagnosis depended on its clinical features. But as for the atypical patient, the diagnosis should be determined by pathological diagnosis, which remained to be the gold standard for CAA.The diagnosis methods of CAA need further research and improvement. Key words: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy; Clinical manifestations; Diagnosis
