Abstract

The purpose of this study was to attempt to divide Bat Swing into various types and to investigate the characteristics of Bat Swing. The subjects were fifty-three baseball players at high school. An experimental bat's was equipped with accelerometer, And investigate the characteristics of Bat Swing and signification of division into various types on the basis of translational acceleration and angular acceleration available from accelerometer. The main results were follows : 1) It was suggested that there was a signification of division into various types as a results of acceleration's direction and largeness. 2) There were two patterns of swing. One was translational acceleration was superiority to angular acceleration. The other was angular acceleration was superiority to translational acceleration. 3) Contribution of angular acceleration was important to Bat Swing. This was also suggested that there was a signification of investigates the characteristics of Bat Swing and skill level of each player.
