A n investigation was conducted to determine the factors producing a directional divergence at high angles of attack for a twin-jet swept-wing fighter airplane.The study consisted of static wind-tunnel tests, tuft-flow visualization tests.and calculations of the dynamic lateral-directional stability characteristics of the airplane.Several modifications to the basic configuration were evaluated in an attempt to delay or eliminate the instability.
