A philosopher, Paul Grice formulates the Cooperative Principle to help the language users in maintaining their speech. With this principle, speakers of a language could minimize the possibility of misunderstanding. The Principle has four maxims in it, maxim of quality, maxim of quantity, maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner. In practice, both principles are often in conflict with each other. The aim of this study is to find out which maxim in the Conversational Principle of Politeness Strategy is the most applied and which maxim of the Cooperative Principle is being flouted.
