Training system with vine planting in pair

In this paper we discuss one variation of vertical trellis training system with head-trained and cane-pruned vines. The vines are planted in pairs and so is got double distance between the vines in the row. Canes of two vines in pair are positioned in opposite direction of each other and tied to the bottom wire of the trellis. Described mode of training young vine, pruning and summer care keep the permanent part of the vine free of large wounds. Wide spacing of vines within the row has several advantages: - facilitates soil cultivation and weed control under the vines; - facilitates and reduce hand labor for disbudding and tying of shoots during the training period of young vines; - some lower costs of establishing vineyard.
