Abstract
Theobjectiveofthisstudywastofindthe efficiencyofcontrolchartsinthemonitoringofthe rod production process. The control chart methods in the study were: 1) the Shewhart Control Chart and 2) the Tabular Cumulative Sum Control Chart. The efficienciesofthecontrolchartweredeterminedby comparing their average run lengths (ARL). The data for the experiment were collected from the Rod Slice Industry, by sampling 4 rods per hour. The results of the study revealed a relatively small mean of 1.67, which can be described as follows. The Tabular CumulativeSumControlChartwasmoreefficient than the Shewhart Control Chart when used to detect the difference in the rod production process. The result comparison of the control chart between the average run length (ARL) calculation and the actual production experimentindicatedthesameefficiency.TheTabular ChartexhibitedahigherefficiencythantheShewhart Chart in the low differential shift. On the other hand, theTabularChartrevealedlowerefficiencythanthe Shewhart Chart in the high differential shift.
