Abstract

Abstract: During immiscible flow, involving two fluids in porous media when one fluid displaced by another one of lesser viscosity, instead of regular displacement of the whole front protuberances (fingers) may occur, which shoot through the porous media at relatively great speed. In this paper, fingering with capillary pressure effect has been statistically discussed in homogeneous porous media. Some standard relations for relative permeability, capillary pressure and phase saturation have been taken into consideration. An approximate analytical expression for the average cross sectional area occupied by fingers (saturation of injected fluid) has been obtained by method of small parameter.
