Abstract
The alignment between business strategy and IT has been a recurring theme for the academics and company executives by the numerous studies demonstrating superior performance results from the organizations and the construction of competitive advantage. However there are few studies of strategic alignment in the public sector. Thus, this exploratory research in a governmental agency sought to identify facilitators and inhibitors of strategic alignment. The results reinforce the literature on the subject, highlighting the role played by top management's support to ensure the social dimension of IT strategic alignment.
