Abstract

The financial crisis of 2008, followed by recession in the world economy, has again put a question mark on the stability of capitalist economic system. The ideological justification of capitalism in the name of freedom and wealth to the majority was questioned by reactionary ‘occupy movements’ throughout the main centers of global capitalism. The discussion among the pro-people intellectuals and activists started again regarding the working of capitalism. In order to question the claims of capitalism and fruitful discussion on society beyond capitalism, we require a comprehensive understanding of the structure and working of capitalism. There is not a better work and an alternative to Marx’s Capital if one wants to understand the fundamentals of capitalist economic structure.
