Abstract

The process of standardization of special terminologies as a subset of the standard Croatian language is not clearly regulated. As a consequence, the ?official? use of terms too often seems to be determined by individual choices and free interpretations. The essential requirement for any subject field terminology is that it be standardized. The author discusses the role of terminological dictionaries in standardization. Some suggestions for a more efficient organization of terminological activities and prospects for terminology training are put forward.
