Bats of the Blancaneaux Enclave

Bats are known to be critical contributors to mammalian biodiversity specifically the neotropics. Bats comprise 50%of the terrestrial mammal fauna in the neotropics. Many bat specie are threatened or endangered throughout the region within Belize. There are changes in their abundance which may reflect on changes in populations of arthropod prey species. Therefore, bat populations are affected by a wide range of stressors that affect other taxa or species.The habitats, cave sites on the Blancaneaux Lodge property and surrounding area were surveyed and was a great distribution of knowledge that was collected in the gaps and habitat associations for bats.
