"You are Here" - screenprinted handcut text panels

Abstract
This is a paper installation exploring ideas based around traditional understanding of place through walking. Using text from council recorded public rights of way the panels link together the towns common lands, by tracing the pathways and passages through their descriptions. These written historic records are now being lost, replaced by our desire to record everything as a digital record. This installation was placed on the top floor of the towns arts centre, overlooking the old town and Mersey River. Intended to engage viewers with a different view of the urban panorama presented before them but also to raise an awareness of how we travel between locations. \n \nExhibited: The Pyramid Arts Centre, Warrington as part of Manifold 2016 \n \nThe Curve Gallery, Newcastle New South Wales Australia, as part of Common Ground 2017
