Hypervelocity impact experiments were performed on polycarbonate plates to investigate the penetrating dynamics of hypervelocity objects. The penetration behavior was observed using an ultra-high-speed video camera. The penetrating motion of projectile is analyzed by various penetration models. The penetration behavior of an intact sphere projectile is well described by the penetration model based on the spherical cavity expansion theory.
