Stress classification method based on design by analysis is prescribed in ASME Code Sec.VIII Div.2 (2004) and Sec.III. Recently, new design method using the elastic-plastic analysis is developed in ASME Code Sec.VIII Div.2 Part5 (2007) and EN 13445 Part3. In this study, the elastic and elastic-plastic analyses and the primary stress evaluation are performed for the pressure vessel with nozzle under inner pressure. In the evaluation, the traditional and the new standards are used and the comparisons are made for the standards.
