Abstract
We report the results of measurements of the mass and energy distributions of fragments from fission of 11 target nuclei from /sup 183/W to /sup 209/Bi by /sup 3/He ions with energy up to 60 MeV. We have made a comparison of the principal characteristics of fission fragments with calculations carried out in the statistical and dynamical approaches. For the dispersions of the mass distributions we have established the dependence on the liquid-drop-model parameter x; analysis of this dependence indicates a dominant role of the saddle point in formation of the symmetric mode of fission of pre-actinides.
