Abstract
Study of concentration profiles has been used to investigate the mechanism of the mutual influence of hydrogen and helium on helium accumulation processes in the successive or simultaneous bombardment of molybdenum and nickel by ions of hydrogen and helium. In addition to the previously well-known mechanism of gas sputtering, we have discussed the mechanism of displacement of helium from vacancies by self-interstitial atoms, produced during the bombardment by hydrogen ions. Reactions which describe this mechanism are presented.
