Gas concentration measurements of a laminar diffusion flame formed on a rectangular gas burner were carried out. In addition to the experiments, a numerical analysis of the diffusion flame was performed. And the structure and the characteristics of the diffusion flame were clarified in a farther extent. Although the fuel is blown out from vicinity of the burner center, the flame zone is formed in the region away from the burner center. As the combustion products arise in the flame zone and are transferred by convection and diffusion, the concentrations of those in the burner central region are comparatively high. It is inferred that the fuel is transferred to the flame zone depending on the diffusion contrary to the stream approaching the burner center.
