Look out for the tortoises

The Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden in Worcester is the only truly succulent garden in South Africa, but there is more to it than just plants. You will notice that signs asking you to 'Please drive carefully' have been placed in the garden as well as 30 km/h speed limit signs. This is because the garden is a haven for three tortoise species, the Angulate Tortoise, also commonly known as the Bowsprit Tortoise or Rooipens (Chersina angulata), the Leopard Tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis subsp. pardalis) and the seldom seen Parrot-beaked Tortoise or Padloper (Homopus areolatus).
