Abstract

Chouious gen. nov.Type species: Chouious tianzeus, sp. n.Head with median length of crown as one-third transocular width, and more than one-half interocular width, anterior margin broadly rounded in dorsal view, without carina at crown but with a pair of large concavities, ocelli situated on its inner margin, slightly before a line between anterior eye angles, distance between ocelli as far as ocellus to eye margin, Antennal ledges with dorsal margins on the anterior margin of crown in dorsal view. Clypeus very strongly convex with distinct muscle impressions and median carina and visible in dorsal aspect, except a flattened area at the tip of disk, transclypeal suture distinct, clypellus with contour nearly horizontal than upper portion of clypeus.Thorax with pro no tum longer than wide, and constriction shorter than head, with distinct median carina, posterior margin strongly convex and over the mesoscutum, scutellum very small. Forewing narrow and corneous on basal one-fourth and with large puncturation as pronotum and head. Venation complete with five apical cells and three preapical cells, the apical membrane distinct. Hindleg with femoral setal formula 2:0:0, and very small.Abdomen narrow and punctured. Male genitalia: pygofer without processes and macrosetae, plates narrow and shorter than pygofer, with a series of long microsetae on outer margin. Parameres narrowed and deeply hook-shaped apically. Aedeagus with preatrium and dorsoatrium, with a pair of processes arising from the ventral of shaft, go no pore apical.Chouious tianzeus, sp. nov. (Figs. 1-4)Length of body 7-7.5 mm. Body black and tinged with copper lustre, and coarsely punctated, except the rostrum and legs which are orange in colour, and the lateral membra nce of abdomen white, ventral surface of body commonly covered with soft hairs and white wax. Forewing: appendix white and inner claval margin and vein greyish white. Other characters as in generic description.Holotype (?) , allotype (?), paratypes 9 (?) (?) ,4 (?) (?) , Tianlin Co., Bose Pr., Guangxi Province 1982-Ⅴ-28-30.Host plant: Fibraurea recisa Pierre (Menispermaceae) .This new taxon is allied to Signoretia Stal and Preta Distant with large pronotum and small scutellum, but different in the ocellar position and venations, and also differs in the genitalia of males. The type specimens are preserved in the Insect Collections of the Beijng Agricultural University, except one pair of the paratypes which are kept in the Entomological Museum of the Northwestern Agricultural University.
