Abstract
Wheat straw, rice straw and corn straw were applied to the soil in order to investigate the effect of mulching on gram crop. The study revealed that mulch treatment affected the soil temperature, improved moisture retention into the soil, increased the biomass and enhanced the crop yield. The mulch application has been reported to be more beneficial on soils situated on slopes or faced with extremes of temperature.
