Abstract

One aspect of my PhD research has been to enquire into the life and work of Charles Reade (1880-1933). He was South Australia's (and Australia's) first Government Town Planner and resided in the state between 1916 and 1920. In 1917 he designed the model garden suburb of Colonel Light Gardens' and displayed its plans at the First Town Planning and Housing Conference, held in Adelaide.
