Patents: Exclusive Possession or Diffusion of Inventions

The patent system is established from a concept that the provision of exclusive rights to the patent owners in the exploitation of theirs patents in the inventions will lead to the creation of new inventions. Under this concept, the advancement on the inventions will emerge from prohibiting other persons in exploitation of the patents of patent owners. However, a number of studies have questioned the accuracy of this concept because the manufacturers have gained new ideas for their new products from outside sources which are not patented, but they are sources of information which are shared among the manufacturing sectors. Moreover, a lot of companies have agreed to share their patents as well.
