Abstract

In optimal selection of a material among two or more alternatives on the basis of two or more attributes is a multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problem. In this paper we have demonstrated the use of Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and modified TOPSIS in the selection of optimal material for wind turbine rotor blade design and optimal type of wind generator among the alternatives on the basis of multiple attributes and compared the outcomes of both. The method considers subjective preferences of the decision maker to decide weights of importance of the attributes.
